Thank You Brian, for everything.
On behalf of the entire Raheny GAA family, we extend our deepest gratitude for the unforgettable memories you've given us over the years while representing our county. You leave the arena as an all-time great, and words cannot fully express how proud we are of you and your achievements.
The nation first witnessed your brilliance on that rain-soaked Sunday in 2015 when you captured the sporting imagination of the country, winning the Man of the Match award in your first senior All-Ireland final victory against Kerry.
But we had seen you long before that and knew what you were capable of. You joined Raheny GAA as a little boy at the Ógra, and then we watched as you literally grew into a great before our eyes.
We cheered you as a youngster on your journey with that remarkable Raheny team, coached by Pat Ivory, Paul Dempsey, Philip Kane, and Christy Reid (R.I.P.), a team whose skills and ability made us supporters chuckle in admiration.
Then, in Dublin sky blue & navy, your achievements became legendary:
• 2 Player of the Year awards
• 7 All-Irelands, including 6 in a row
• 6 All-Star Awards
• 4 National League titles
• 1 Under-21 All-Ireland
• 1 Under-21 Leinster
• 10 Leinster medals
• Unbeaten in Leinster Championship Football
You have represented us far beyond what we could ever have hoped for, and we watched on again and again, cheering you on and bursting with pride that you were from our parish.
You are a superb role model for our legions of young Raheny players who look up to you, and we thank you for all you do. An inspiration to sportsmen everywhere, you lead by example. Always one of the last to leave the field of play after signing autographs and jerseys for throngs of fans both young and old in every corner of the country.
We will miss you greatly in sky blue & navy, and we wish you all the best in your retirement from inter-county football. We obviously look forward with anticipation to the rest of your career in the maroon of the parish. We will be watching and cheering for you as always.
As we celebrate your incredible inter county journey, we also acknowledge your legacy as one of the all-time greats not just of Dublin GAA but GAA in general. Your contributions have left an indelible mark on our sport.
Thank you Fento for everything…
